Starting this Spring 2018 in Austin Texas at One World Theater and then visiting ten US cities.

We were invited back to the home of Brenda Russell again, an award-winning singer, composer, and lyricist, who has performed with Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Smokey Robinson and more, in Austin, Texas to meet her daughter Lindsay Walker, an accomplished musician and actress in her own right. Sitting with Lindsay in Mrs. Russell’s home studio, it is hard not to be in awe of the many gold records, Grammy’s, and just amazing people she has worked with from all genres of music. Lindsay laughs as she gives me the tour and says, “Growing up, thought it was normal for people to get Grammy’s and walk down red carpets.” Having a fabulously successful mother only inspired Lindsay, who has been a successful print model and actress early in her life. The music however, Lindsay says, is part of her heart, spirit, and spirituality having always sung in church.

It has always been a part of her life and is different from acting or modeling, which has been her “bread and butter.” She currently has a CocaCola commercial and an Amazon spot where she talk
s with Tesla.

She says that God gave her the ability and the vocals to sing. Therefore, it is a gift she feels called to use for good. In fact, the recording is called, “I am Sound.”

Her first singing gig was with Smokey Robinson. She talked about the experience at great length. Her agent called her and told her that she was auditioning in Burbank, California. From her work, she picked “something Mo-Town” and went for the audition. As she was waiting outside the studio, she couldn’t help noticing all the ladies, and they were wearing black. On entering, she said, she was shocked that the gig was with Smokey Robinson. Laughing, she said, had she known ahead of time, she would have had time to get overly-anxious. On leaving, she thought, “Wow! I got to sing with Smokey Robinson.” She got the job, and the rest has been history.

Lindsay’s recorded single has a special message to everyone to seek and maintain balance. She said she wanted to write about diabetes without writing about diabetes. Lindsay recalls watching her mother struggle at times to maintain the balance of her career and dealing with diabetes. Her mother’s strength and poise through those times are the lessons she wants to impart through her single and this tour. The premise of “I am Sound” is, “You must find balance and maintain your health, or nothing is possible.” The recording will be sold throughout the tour to raise funds for the treatment of diabetes in Texas.

Organizations such as BMJSports Moonshot Cancer and Diabetes are raising money for research and education for future Diabetics in Texas. LWalkerMoonshot2018HPPFotoMicCloseupThe Moonshot Program was created by Joe Biden and Obama as a vehicle for scientists working on cures for diseases to collaborate. Historically African-Americans have suffered and died from preventable diseases due to their lifestyle.

Lindsay signed on for a 10-city tour deal starting in Austin, Texas at the One World Theater. “Taking care of our communities is an important part of our business,” said Tanya Chandler, Nordstrom V. P. and Southwest Regional Manager, “We know music is important to our customers here in Austin and we are excited that all proceeds from BMJ Sports will support the next generation of diabetes patients in the community.”

Lindsay Walker, recording artist, will be joined on stage by her Mother Brenda Russell.  Lindsay has been described in the following terms:

*One of the most beautiful women in the world.

*Courageous, Brave, and Fearless Musical Sound.

*Musical Discipline from Years of International Performances.

*Musical Sound with Volume Capacity Only Measured by Genius.

The single, written and recorded by Lindsay, is called, “I am Sound.” It was inspired by watching her Mother cope with career, diabetes, and family for years.  The premise of the song is, “if you take care of yourself, you will find a peace and a balance even in the turbulence of disease.”

North American tour dates include Austin, Texas; Houston, Texas, Washington, D.C. and more U.S. destinations. It is sponsored by Moonshot End Cancer Tour by BMJ Sports and American Diabetes. For information go to: Moonshot Tour Headquarters
